May 16, 2009 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands - The fourth annual TBLI CONFERENCE™ ASIA on “Sustainable Responsible Investment” (SRI) takes place in Yokohama, Japan, from May 27 28, 2009. This day-and-a half global Conference, convened at the Pacific Convention Plaza Yokohama, will look at all aspects of the fastest growing forms of investing, which combine reduced risks with financial, social, and environmental benefits. SRI is fundamental to sustainable development, while also offering solutions to global problems as climate change and poverty. TBLI CONFERENCE™ ASIA 2009 is the platform where experts from the world’s largest financial ‘movers and shakers’ from Asia, Europe and the USA collaborate on and discuss best practices in addressing today’s most pressing global issues.
This year’s Conference will open with keynote welcome speech from the Mayor of Yokohama, Hiroshi Nakada (TBC), since the Conference is convened at the 150th Anniversary of Yokohama in the city’s landmark sustainable Minatomirai conference centre and project. Among keynote speakers will be: Michael T. Eckhart, founding President of the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) and expert on renewable energy, power generation, high technology, and finance; Hikaru Kobayashi, Director-General of the Environmental Policy Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of the Environment and Tomoyoshi Uranishi, Senior Executive of the Tokyo Stock Exchange Group, Inc..
This Conference on SRI is the largest in Asia, with 250 Japanese and foreign SRI professionals expected, featuring two Roundtable Plenaries and twelve workshops by leaders of industry, finance, government and religion. Topics under discussion will include“Asset Management and Economic, Social and Governance Issues”, “Integrating Economic, Social and Governance Issues into Investment Portfolios?”, “10 Years of Triple Bottom Line Investment – Lessons learned”, “Faith Consistent Investing”, “Fund Performance and Strategy Japan – Europe” and “Business, Human Rights and Investments in Asia”. A special workshop on investment opportunities in Emerging Markets is being convenedin cooperation with USAID Eco-Asia Clean Development and Climate Program, India.
