“I was overwhelmed by all of the support,” said Todisco. “It was the perfect city to birth my story and film.”
Emotion was all over Todisco’s face that Friday evening as he looked at the wrapping line around the theater’s building. Capable of holding nearly 500 guests, officials unfortunately had to send home almost one hundred individuals, a feat only attained by a handful of serious, successful, and well known filmmakers.
Michel Bayan, co-Producer of “One Day Like Rain,” attributes the big turn-out to the grassroots marketing campaign he spearhead with the cast, crew, and local friends.
“People really enjoyed our group. And we loved them. I plan to return to SIFF with future projects,” said Bayan. “Hats, shirts, umbrella, stickers, buttons, flyers, posters, even cookies. Our stuff was everywhere. It was great!”
From May 24th through June 17th, the 33rd Seattle International Film Festival is the largest and most highly attended festival in the United States. “One Day Like Rain” was placed in the New American Cinema Competition category which includes an extraordinary selection of films that have yet to receive American distribution. Jurors said this film can be the next cult classic.
“One Day Like Rain” is a mystical coming-of-age story set in American suburbia. Driven by a desire for meaning and to channel her teenage angst, Gina (Samantha Figura) devises a metaphysical experiment to save humanity from their self-destructive ways. Her best friend Jennifer (Marina Resa) agrees to participate and, as a result, experiences a heightened state of consciousness. But her blissful state soon turns dark and Jennifer faces the consequences of meddling with forces she cannot control. Gina vows to quit before effecting humanity on a global scale, but is encouraged to continue by her mentor Ian, a mysterious man who seems to be aware of Gina’s activities.
“One Day Like Rain” stars Samantha Figura, Marina Resa, Jesse Eisenberg, Trevor Zacharias, Dalton Leeb, and Marisa Petroro.
