#DeadPullipSociety range of merchandise and apparel launching with the help of Kickstarter
I have launched a Kickstarter campaign to gain investment that will allow me to properly launch my range, which features my own unique art and designs.

We are at a stage where all generations are embracing modern culture and elements of previous sub-cultures, and the #DeadPullipSociety range of art, merchandise and apparel is tapping in to that.
To fully realise my goal and properly launch the range in to the world, I have started a Kickstarter campaign to gain investment, that will allow me to source quality goods and services with which to produce high quality products featuring my designs...
An advert for this campaign launched on Instagram, which has gained over 100 likes within 2 days - largely from the teen market - there is a lot of interest in this project and a lot of love for the painting that has launched it. Without investment I will be unable to fully launch the kind of exciting range that I want to - that I know will be very popular.
I have kept my eye on popular culture and the threads lying under it, and certain elements stick and become loved in the commonplace. Some of these things include the amazing fashions and styles from Japan and the far east; from older sub-cultures like goth, metal, punk; from classic horror films...
The #DeadPullipSociety range started as a drawing of a skull that would fit inside the head of the very popular Japanese Pullip fashion doll. I took this drawing one stage further and created a digital painting of the skull covered in lace. This image is now available as a print and on t-shirts, mugs and bookmarks. I am now working on a new painting and a series of prints to enlarge this body of work.
"There is a massive love for things like the films of Tim Burton, of the look and style of Sugar Skulls and tattoos, and also the huge world of cartoons and anime. Darker art, once belonging purely to the worlds of the goth and metal scenes, are very desirable across all genres. Popular culture - and especially youth culture - has never been so open to ideas and cross-breeding of sub-cultures as it is now."
"Having gone through many 'phases' myself, enjoying the worlds of goth, metal, indie, dance, hip-hop etc., I've seen so many fashions change and cross-over one another, merging and creating new sub-genres of fashion. Certain genres, like with the goth aesthetic, have remained with me, so I have kept 'in tune' with what the younger generations are doing within this realm."
Tim Thomson is a local artist and printmaker who works from his flat in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. In the summer of 2016 he started taking part in art fairs, including the MAC Contemporary Craft Fair and Moseley Art Market, selling original monoprints and reproductions. While continuing to take part in these fairs, Tim is also working on a collaboration with a poet from Coventry and is creating a body of work featuring large scale portraits, which he hopes to exhibit in the near future. Some of the #DeadPullipSociety art and merchandise, alongside other work, is currently on sale at Finegan's Rainbow Gallery on the Pershore Road in Selly Park, and at the Kitchen Garden Shed Boutique on York Road in Kings Heath, Birmingham.
