July 04, 2009 - The contest was conducted over a period of six weeks (April 27 - 15 June, 2009). By the time the contest closed, over 1100 people had submitted more than 5,000 entries making it the largest exercise of its kind in India. OkTataByebye.com, India’s largest online travel community, hit upon six categories encompassing the various features of India – Our Scenic Beauty (which saw a record number of entries), Festivals & Occasions, Our Heritage, Portraits & Faces, Our Wildlife and Dressed At Night.
OkTataByebye.com had envisaged the contest as a meeting ground for people from various regions and backgrounds. The idea was to communicate and share their tales of travels into the far corners of our country through their photographs. And indeed, the contest received an overwhelming response.
One winner was chosen every week and they won for themselves the latest Samsung Pixon 8 megapixel camera phone. Entries poured in from all corners of the country, with snapshots ranging from the high altitude desert of the Ladakh region to the meandering waterways of the Kerala backwaters. Some of the most interesting photographs captured life in the villages and tribal communities of India.
